Good headlines - a must for effective blog writing

One of the most important aspects of writing great blog posts and articles is how you write the headline. I am not saying that the rest of the article is not important, just that the headline will be the first thing that a reader notices. Only if the headline is good and eye catching, will the reader take a second look at your blog. As a blog post writer you must make sure that you follow this diligently.

Of course, a great headline has to be followed up by impressive text, or the reader will walk away. But the headline is what makes a reader come to your blog in the first place. In short, a really good headline can turn a reader into a subscriber, which is, of course, what all bloggers yearn for.

In order to attract readers to your article, you need to offer them something. A headline can do just that. It tells them what they are going to gain from reading your article. If it is a good headline, it tells them that they are in for a good read. Obviously, you will have to follow up a great headline with an equally good article, or you can be sure that the reader will not come back ever again.

Another way to get people to come to your blog or site through headlines is to use the right keywords. This is a surefire way to get search engines to pick up your article. Also, using the right keywords indicates that a blog writer knows exactly what the reader is looking for.

If you want to write good headlines, make sure that you do your share of reading as well. Read up on great headlines, and maybe even take a leaf out of those authors’ books. I am not saying copy (although some blog writers do that very efficiently), but see what you can learn. Always keep your mind open when you are writing blog posts, for that will help you a lot.
